SUNDAY, AUGUST 2 – INCinema Series
Screening of THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH
Billy Wilder, 1955, 105′ — original version with Italian subtitles
Left alone in the city while his wife and son are on vacation, Richard tries to get through a sweltering New York summer. When a captivating and irresistible young neighbor moves in upstairs, his routine is thrown into chaos by fantasies, temptations, and hilarious situations. The film that cemented Marilyn Monroe’s immortal status. With Billy Wilder’s refined wit, it captures the fragilities, desires, and contradictions of the everyman, blending comedy with irresistible lightness. Marilyn appears here in her most iconic incarnation, starring in the legendary subway-grate scene with her white dress billowing in the wind — an image forever etched in the collective imagination. One of the most celebrated comedies in film history, the quintessential summer movie.
The screening is also accessible to people with sensory disabilities, with on-screen subtitles and audio description available via smartphone through the Earcatch app (iOS and Android).
